This website is a guide to theatre being staged in the Canberra region by amateur and pro-am companies. It's an initiative of NATO, the "Network of Amateur Theate Organisations", an informal collection of local theatre companies in the Canberra region. (And once known as GATO, but we decided we were more a network than a group!)
Why? So often we hear people say "If only I knew what was on". This website is part of the answer – a simple list of the shows that are playing now, and those are coming soon.
Professional productions seem to get a lot of media coverage, amateur productions struggle for public awareness. Amateur means unpaid. Passion doesn't necessarily come with a paycheck.
